As I sit eating my cold dinner in front of the computer I wonder to myself, "How do mom's work full-time?'' I had a long day at work and all day I felt guilty that I was working because Sophia is sick and all she wants is her mommy. She had daddy which is just as good but you know how it is. It's going to be a really long week and all I think about is all the stuff I have to do. Clean, do laundry, pack, do some last minute shopping.....the list goes on and on.
On the brighter note, Noah's art teacher selected one of Noah's drawings to be featured at an art show this weekend. His teacher keeps telling me I need to get him into some type of art class because she feels he is very talented. What can I say, that's Noah.
We are so looking forward to our trip to VA. I'm super excited to be Jack's God mother. I've always really wanted to be a God Mother so I'm really excited and honored. Not to mention that we'll finally meet him for the first time. I'm sure there will be lots of playing outside in the leaves and some much needed veggin' out by the fire.

Feliz Cumpleanos Abuelita!
Today my abuela turned 93. Can anyone imagine being 93? I certainly can not but I must say that for being through as much as my abuela has she is doing great. Her mind is still pretty sharp and she can still make a mean plate of rice and beans. I hope that I can inherit some of her strength and maybe even some of her cooking skills.

AHHHHH.....

(These are old pics)The kids are finally down after a long day of taking temps and running to the Dr's office and feeding and bathing. I really can't complain though, my babies are wonderful! Even when sick they both seem to some how keep their spirits up.
I'm alone tonight so I'm about to make myself a cup of apple chamomile tea and curl up in my bed and watch my Sunday night shows. Anyone else keeping up with them?
New additions....
So we went back to Ikea on Sat to exchange a few things and put a few more things in the dining room. The mirror is up, the Chandelier is up, we added another side board and a rug. Peter put a fresh coat of paint on the french doors and as far as he's concerned the room is done. I of course have a little fine tuning to do. Should I leave the lamps on the side board or is it too much? Is the side board going to have to be painted or can I get away with adding a nice runner on top? Decisions, decisions.......
Noah is sick. He's had a fever since yesterday so he's just veggin' out. It's never ending in my house!

Excitment

Today I woke up with incredible excitement to vote and optimism that my guy really has a chance to become the next president. I'm not committed to a party but for this election I can say 100% I am an Obama Mama! So there I've said it.
Peter and I have invited a few friends over for a casual election gathering. Should be interesting.
As I was pouring Noah his cereal this morning I explained that today I was going to vote and why I was voting for Obama. He ,being a McCain supporter, (where he got this from I have no idea) said that he hoped Obama didn't win and that he was going to make a sign saying so. At 6 he's already organizing a protest! He's too much. He taught his sister to chant, "John McCain, John McCain!" which she decided to do in the middle of a birthday party I went to a few weeks ago. Several people that were there thought it was the coolest thing ever and kept saying they wish they had a camera to capture the moment. One man was trying to get Sophia to say Sara Palin and I just bit my tongue. His wife kept saying how funny she was and I said, "What's even funnier is that I don't support John McCain." She immediately changed and didn't want anything to do with me after that. LOL. Oh well.....

Something new

Here is our new piece for the room. We had something else in mind but when we actually went to the store and saw it we were very disappointed. After going back and forth all over the store we ended up with this. It's really pretty but now he problem is the shades of white in the room. We might end up having to re-paint the molding to match. Oh well. I don't want the room to be too matchy but I don't want anything to clash either. I also found these cute lamp shades that I thought would go nice with the room. The chandelier we picked was way too big because our ceiling is low in that room so that's going back. The mirror we purchased a while ago was cracked and that paint was chipping off when we opened it so that's going back as well.
Sophia still isn't feeling great. Turns out she has pneumonia. It's not the contagious kind so she's on antibiotics and regular breathing treatments. Her cough sounds a little more rattely so I think everything is loosing up in there which is a good thing. Poor baby. What more can she go through? Her spirits are much better today.
I'm just trying to clean and get my house organized in time for our trip. I've been doing it slowly everyday as to not overwhelm myself. I put Sophia down for a nap and I think I'm going to do a little baking. I saw an interesting recipe for cranberry oatmeal bars in Cooking Light so I'll let ya know how they turn out.
