Ponce Inlet

Last week we took a day trip to the lighthouse at Ponce Inlet. I really thought the kids would get a kick out of it and we could walk around and explore the area a little. We really fell in love with the area, beachy and historic. Very old Florida. We all climbed up the lighthouse, the kids were really into it till about half way up and they both freaked out. Noah walked all the way by himself as he held on for dear life from the railing saying,"I never want to come here again! Why did you bring us here?" Sophia clung onto me and wouldn't go with her father to give me a break. We finally got to the top and the view was beautiful! The wind was crazy strong that day and it felt like it was going to blow us all away. My legs felt like noodles when we got to the bottom reminding me that I need to get in shape. Oh well, we had a great day outside enjoying beautiful Florida winter weather.
Happy Inauguration Day everyone!

Good reads?

One thing that I miss about myspace is the little forum Mary Catherine set up for us, The Pinot Playdate. On it we exchanged recipes, advise and good reads. I think the good reads was the longest forum because we all kept on adding our latest reads and if we like it or not, why etc....

So ladies, what'cha reading?????

Trying Times...

Peter and I have been practicing being patient a whole lot lately. Our sweet Sophia has become a raging lunatic. She's fine one minute and the next the slightest thing sets her off and she's screaming bloody murder. It's funny how we block out certain stages like the terrible two's out of our heads so when the second child comes along it kinda catches us off guard. Today I sat and remembered Noah going through his two's and the type of fits he used to have. Sophia is definitely a tough cookie but her tantrums aren't too far from what Noah's used to be.

My daughter is two and I know that all two year olds go through this very trying stage. They all have their special spin on it but they all do it.

This too shall pass........

Baby Shower

My good friend Esma and I hosted our dear friend Widalis' baby shower. We held it at a really cute tea room in Lake Mary. I really think it was a success, the look on Widalis' face as she looked at all the details said it all. It was hard work but we had so much fun putting it all together. It makes me wonder, who will the next baby shower be for? HUMMMM.................................

Funny man Noah!

This went on for about 5 minutes! Noah loves his baby cousin Jack and I think Jack is pretty crazy about him too!

Pain

Just thought I'd whine a little. My ortho visit this morning was more painful than I expected and it's causing a killer headache. I got rained on while leaving Noah's school and I still have lots of running around to do. Sophia is tired and cranky and won't nap and all I want to do is hide under my comforter.

Can anyone relate????????

Vacation over....

We ended our Christmas break with a really nice day out on the St. John' s river. We spent the day with Peter's two partners and their families and had a really nice time cruising on the Red Neck Riviera. We saw all kinds of beautiful birds, manatee and even alligators. The kids had a ball and were so well behaved that Peter and I came to the conclusion that a boat in definitely in our future. Some day....

New Years Eve

I actually stay up to bring in the new year. I can't remember the last time I did. It was Lonely girls night, most of the ladies were single and my honey was working. We did have fun drinking too many martini's or wine or rum and cokes. There was lots of dancing, singing and even a few parandas. (That's our version of caroling but it is a LOT louder and involves LOTS of alcohol) Happy New Year everyone!

Christmas Day

Christmas day was pretty quiet. We had a nice breakfast after presents and lots of coffee. After a much needed nap we started on dinner. Peter and I made a simple but nice dinner of roast beef. We were both happy with how everything came out. It was nice to be in our home this year, especially after completing a few projects in the house.

Christmas Eve

We all spent Christmas Eve at my parents house next door. We started out the evening with pomegranate martinis that were super yummy and way too smooth. Mom and Dad made pernil (roast pork) with all the fixings. The kids put out reindeer food on the front lawn and Noah swore he heard jingle bells. We went back in for a little Rock Band and finally back home for a cute present from Grandma Kathleen, matching pj's, and finished up some last minute wrapping. Needless to say, that night we were all exhausted but we all couldn't wait to see the look on the kids face in the morning.
